About me
Before becoming a therapist, I followed a wonderfully varied career path. I studied Marine Biology at the University of Southampton and spent time working with penguins, alongside roles in finance and even as a circus performer. Each experience taught me something valuable, but none felt quite like where I was meant to be.
It was through my own experience of therapy that I discovered my passion for this work. I've always been curious about people and what shapes us, and experiencing the therapeutic relationship firsthand showed me the profound difference it can make. It inspired me to train as a therapist so I could offer that same space to others.
I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Experiential Psychotherapeutic Counselling at the Metanoia Institute and have since undertaken additional training in trauma-informed practice, suicide awareness, long-term health conditions, and group facilitation. After four years working within the NHS, I now work in private practice.
Alongside my work with anxiety, depression and trauma, I have a particular passion for working with LGBTQIA+ clients. As someone who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I understand the value that shared lived experience can sometimes bring to the therapeutic relationship. While every person's story is unique, I know how meaningful it can be to work with someone who understands some of the complexities of identity, belonging, relationships and navigating the world as a queer person.
Clients often describe me as warm, deeply attentive and easy to talk to. I believe each person already holds the capacity for growth and healing, and my role is to offer a compassionate, collaborative space where those strengths can be rediscovered and developed.
My Approach
My approach is grounded in "Person Centered Therapy". But Your therapy is guided by what feels important to you. My role is to offer a warm, emotionally safe space where you can explore your experiences openly and at your own pace.
Alongside empathy and support, I may gently offer challenge where it feels helpful, helping you to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships. Together, we can work towards greater clarity, self-compassion, and confidence in the choices you make moving forward.
Person Centered
Person-Centred Experiential Therapy is based on the belief that people have an innate capacity for growth and change. Therapy offers a space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences with greater awareness and understanding.
A relational approach recognises that our ways of relating to ourselves and others are often shaped by past experiences. Through exploring these patterns, therapy can support greater self-understanding, choice, and meaningful change.
